Share the Gospel. Here’s how…

Many days I read this 9 Marks selection on the Gospel.

I read it so much that it feels unrehearsed and a part of my every day language.

This helps me tremendously when I share the Gospel.

With the holidays now here, you may have a lot of time with family and friends who may not know the Lord.

This can help you move the conversations to the Gospel.

A good way to summarize this good news is to biblically unpack the words God, Man, Christ,
Response.

  1. God. God is the creator of all things (Gen. 1:1). He is perfectly holy, worthy of all worship, and will punish sin (1 John 1:5, Rev. 4:11, Rom. 2:5-8).
  2. Man. All people, though created good, have become sinful by nature (Gen. 1:26-28, Ps. 51:5, Rom. 3:23). From birth, all people are alienated from God, hostile to God, and subject to the wrath of God (Eph. 2:1-3).
  3. Christ. Jesus Christ, who is fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to bear God’s wrath in the place of all who would believe in him, and rose from the grave in order to give his people eternal life (John 1:1, 1 Tim. 2:5, Heb. 7:26, Rom. 3:21-26, 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 Cor. 15:20-22).
  4. Response. God calls everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and trust in Christ in order to be saved (Mark 1:15, Acts 20:21, Rom. 10:9-10).

It wouldn’t hurt to read this daily as you go about work and your current context.

Make this a part of your language as you LiveSent…

Worship recap…

Ephesians is done!
It was a great year of focusing in on one book of the bible.
I’ve got some worn out pages and a couple of empty micron pens.

Here’s the set list from Sunday:
Joy to the world-Big Daddy Weave
Go tell it on the mountain-Starfield
O come all ye faithful-Austin Stone
Prepare Him room-Sovereign Grace

Watching Fat Albert with my boys…

This cartoon is so good. As my boys are watching this show, Gavin keeps saying, “This is funny and it teaches us good stuff!” I grew up watching Fat Albert and the Cosby Show. I really hate the controversy surrounding Bill Cosby right now.
Also, there’s no way this show could get away with the title Fat Albert nowadays.
Just remembering the good ole days…

Just as a sidenote, I use a free app called Prime for all of our loops and click tracks. (If that last sentence means nothing to you then you can skip the rest of this post.)

I absolutely love the ease of use that LoopCommunity.com has developed with this app. You buy or make the loop and/or click track, then run it live from the iPad.

So easy. So good.

If you are interested, let me know. It has helped us tremendously!

Worship Recap…

Thankful for a great day yesterday at HGBC.

Pastor preached out of Ephesians 4:28-32. I encourage you to go back and listen to it once if you were not here, then twice because it’s that good.

We also had a strong first night of our weekly Prayer Gathering. It was a real blessing to see our people praying for one another all throughout the worship center. I’m reminded of a point in our Prayer Guide, “Prayer changes us, not God”. So true, so good.

Here are the songs we sang during the morning services yesterday:

God is able-Hillsong

There is a fountain-Enfield Sessions

O for a thousand tongues to sing-Gateway

Worthy, worthy-Vertical Church Band

The rock won’t move-Vertical Church Band

Earworm…

I am constantly looking for new music. Not just the latest songs, but really the latest versions of songs.

You see, I generally like all music. As a “worship leader” I listen for songs that can done in a church congregational setting. In our current context, I like to sing a good blend of old and new songs. (The blend is determined by each individual person…)

On my many searches for good music (theologically), I find that most hymns and some modern songs fit that criteria.

Here lately I have been listening to a band called Enfield. The have recorded 2 albums of old hymns, but in a very modern way. The thing I like the most about them is that they have, for the most part, preserved the traditional singing of the hymns but added significant instrumentals.

If you love the content of the hymns, you will love their music.

If you love the modern forms of worship music, you will love their music.

Have a listen and tell me what you think…

Enjoy…

Looking forward to Sunday…

We are singing a new song this coming Sunday. It is called “Worthy, worthy” from Vertical Church Band.

This song brings Psalm 145:3 to mind… Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable.

Also Revelation 4:11… Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power…

I pray that worship on Sunday will be a continuation of what we have been doing all week long, singing songs of praise and studying God’s Word!

See you then…
